Kelsey’s Journey: Embracing Better Hearing While Living with Moebius Syndrome

2025-03-18 • 1 min read

Kelsey Ferrill has faced many challenges, but she has never let them define her. Born with Moebius syndrome; a rare condition that affects the facial nerves, she learned early on to adapt to a world not always built for her. Over time, she turned adversity into advocacy, raising awareness about facial differences and championing inclusivity. Along the way, hearing loss became another hurdle, leading to moments of isolation and frustration. But Kelsey’s resilience never wavered.

A Life-Changing Moment

Everything changed when Kelsey received a free pair of hearing aids through HearingLife’s partnership with the Campaign for Better Hearing. The moment she put them on, it was as if a whole new world opened up. Conversations became clearer, connections felt stronger, and everyday interactions became easier. It was a powerful reminder of just how important our hearing health is to our overall well-being.

The Campaign for Better Hearing is dedicated to helping individuals like Kelsey who may not have access to hearing care. By providing hearing aids to those in need, the initiative ensures that more people can experience the benefits of better hearing and an improved quality of life. For every free hearing assessment completed at a HearingLife clinic, $4 is donated to this Give Back Program—helping someone in need receive free hearing aids.

Stories like Kelsey’s inspire us to continue supporting initiatives like the Campaign for Better Hearing and to help more Canadians experience the gift of better hearing.
